Delta Showcases Industrial Automation Solutions at KMUTNB Engineer Innovation Showcase 2020

Bangkok, Thailand, January 30-February 1, 2020- Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. showcased its original industrial automation solutions used to train Delta automation academy students in Industry 4.0 manufacturing applications at the King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) Engineer Innovation Showcase 2020.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Kasemson Kreuatorn, Delta’s Senior Regional Manager for industrial automation, said, “Delta supports automation training at both KMUT’s North Bangkok and Thonburi campuses. We’re excited to join today’s event to help raise awareness about the latest student innovations developed with resources from Delta and KMUT’s Faculty of Engineering. The Delta Automation Academy provides engineering faculties at top Thai universities like KMUT with a world-class training curriculum, technical instruction for professors and a multi-level program with practical goals like the Delta Cup international automation competition and internship opportunities.”

The Delta booth highlighted smart manufacturing solutions in two unique demonstrations that combined its process devices, robots and control products. The centerpiece mini automated production line demonstration enabled automated sorting and packing tasks that dramatically reduce manpower and human error while increasing speed in the following steps:

• Loader: Loads products delivered by an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) onto a conveyor belt to feed to the production line.
• SCARA Robot: Performs pick and place of the products on to the production line.
• Vision Inspection System: Uses cameras to capture images of the products and communicate this data to the articulated robot.
• Six-axis Articulated Robot: Uses information relayed from the Vision Inspection System to sort products in trays according to product type.
• Wireless and Ethernet Communication Devices: Helps machines at each station to communicate smoothly throughout operations and allows communication with other factory locations and devices.

Mr. Kasemson also introduced a Delta’s SCARA Robot conveyor tracking with loading/unloading demonstration that seamlessly integrates robots and sensors with industrial cloud router, HMIs, PLCs and high performance compact drives as an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution. Manufacturers can leverage these solutions for precise and energy-efficient control in metal and plastic processing, assembly, inspection and packaging applications.

In addition, Delta displayed its IIoT solutions that offers maximum control over factory operations to boost productivity, efficiency, speed and quality. The DX-2100 and DX2300 3G cloud routers and DIACloud make it easy for factory managers and operators to manage production tasks via wireless control and communication.

Through the Delta Automation Academy, Delta and its partners trained around 800 Thai engineering students so far, with around 200 trainees joining every year. Delta has set up Delta Automation Labs in Thailand’s top universities including: Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut's University of Technology campuses in North Bangkok and in Thonburi and Burapha University in Chonburi, EEC.

Every year, Delta sponsors Thai Delta Automation Academy students to compete against elite students from Taiwan, China, India, Europe and Vietnam at the international Delta Cup. Delta’s commits to developing Thai engineering talent to drive the country’s industrial and economic growth and deliver on its brand promise: Smarter. Greener. Together.
