Bangkok, Thailand, June 26, 2019- Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. and the Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) signed a memorandum of agreement to support the DIP Big Brother project which enhances Thai SME competitiveness through technology. The project aims to leverage the latest technology and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to uplift local manufacturers and guarantee sustainable development.
Mr. Anusorn Muttraid, Delta Executive Director said, “We invest heavily in R&D to stay at the forefront of innovative technology. The spirit of innovation is a big part of Delta’s culture and aligns with our corporate mission: To provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow. But we know that it’s hard for many SME’s in Thailand to allocate enough revenue to R&D and that is why we share our own know-how and management experience to help local businesses compete in the Industry 4.0 era.”
Mr. Kobchai Sungsitthisawad, DIP Director-General, said, “Cooperation between the private sector and government agencies are essential in helping Thai SMEs become stronger and allowing them to grow to stand on their own in the digital economy.” The Big Brother project shows the department’s commitment
to promote and leverage technology and knowledge transfer from world-class organizations to develop Thailand’s manufacturing industry. This project aims to give local SMEs and start-ups a chance to access resources and thus shorten their learning curve.
The project aims to boost SME competitiveness on a national level. Mr. Kobchai said the signed agreement is part of the DIP’s six-year collaboration with Delta. Over the years of collaboration, Delta has provided technologies to improve local SME performance in areas including energy efficiency, energy management for buildings and water systems and industrial automation to for factory manufacturing processes.
Under the cooperation, Thai factory operators will receive specialized training in key foundational systems for automation control including Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and motor drives. The project also offers participants business support including sustainable financing and credit through banks, calculation of ROI and advice on factory process improvement.
In the past, Delta collaborated with the DIP to help a brewery in Chiang Mai revitalize its production. This early success spawned the cooperation that grew to become the Big Brother project which brings the government and private sector together to lend smaller businesses a helping hand. The project offers business owners much more than just automation equipment because it also teaches them best practices and how they can use technology and business management to bolster their daily operations.
