Delta Employees Raise Health Awareness on WHO World No Tobacco Day

Samutprakarn, Thailand, May 31, 2018 - Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. held an employee video campaign and flash mob activities to mark the World Health Organization (WHO) May 31 World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) and to increase the employee's awareness of the negative impacts of smoking. The focus of World No Tobacco Day 2018 is "Tobacco and heart disease."Created in 1987 by the WHO, WNTD encourages a 24-hour period of abstinence from tobacco consumption worldwide. The day aims to draw attention to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and the negative health effects on both smokers and non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke.

Ms. Nannaphat Serithitivorachote, Delta HRD Manager, organized the video campaign and flash mob activities that involved Delta employees from various departments as campaigners. During the activities, employees expressed their passion to protect the health of smoker and non-smoker colleagues and their families in a fun and relatable way. Employees shared information, experiences and promotional slogans to increase awareness among colleagues of the many health risks involved with tobacco use.

Delta prioritizes employee well-being and supports their education, career, health and maternal needs. The WNTD awareness activities are part of the company’s effort to reduce lifestyle diseases and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD – such as autoimmune diseases, heart diseases, stroke, cancers, diabetes,   and chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease and cataracts) at the workplace and promote the well-being of employees and their families. In addition, the campaign aligns with the company’s policy to protect the rights of non-smoker employees as Delta considers health and wellness to be fundamental human rights.
