Bangkok, Thailand, October 30, 2020– Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. hosted a delegation led by Dr. Apichat Thongyu, President of the Eastern Economic Corridor-Human Development Center (EEC-HDC) Working Group. The delegation aimed to gain more understanding about Delta’s Industry 4.0 related solutions and explore opportunities for collaboration, especially in human resources development for Thailand 4.0 development.
Mr. Jackie Chang, Delta Thailand President, welcomed Dr. Apichart and the delegation to Delta’s Bangpoo headquarters and introduced the company’s local operations, focusing on products developed at Delta Thailand R&D facilities and products manufactured and shipped globally from Delta’s Thai factories. Mr. Chang highlighted the successful expansion of Delta’s manufacturing footprint in the EEC zone’s Wellgrow Industrial Estate and expressed his keen interest to further collaborate with the government in both infrastructure and industrial education.
Delta business directors then introduced Delta Thailand’s Automation, EV and Data Center solutions that support the government’s Thailand 4.0 development policy. Mr. Yongyuth Pakdoungjan, Delta Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs Department, then introduced the Delta Automation Academy university projects and the Delta Angel Fund for Startups project that fosters Thailand’s future engineers and entrepreneurs and promotes a sustainable technology-driven economy.
Dr. Apichart expressed interest in the scale of Delta’s social contributions and the wide range of products and solutions that align well with the Thailand 4.0 goals. He presented an overview of the EEC Model Education System which uses a demand-driven concept to design education programs that industries need rather than following a traditional curriculum. The EEC-HDC promotes this model to gain cooperation from educational institutes and collaborate with industry partners for success.
In addition, Dr. Apichart highlighted the current shortage of manpower in terms of skill fit for the EEC zone. Thailand’s government targets to have over 470,000 people in the next five years to work in Thailand 4.0 target industries. It aims to accelerate training and elevate the standard of education for human resources development to boost professional standards. He then assigned his staff to set up a team for joint projects with Delta and explore opportunities for Delta to become an EEC training center.
After the sharing session, Delta automation experts introduced Delta’s smart manufacturing and industrial automation solutions to the delegation at the company showroom.
This year, Delta and Burapha University signed an MOU for partnership and collaboration to develop an English language competency criteria for workforce development in the EEC. In 2019, Delta and Burapha University signed an MOU to offer Delta’s advanced automation training program for the first time in the EEC.
